Hobart’s love and appreciation for painting began with his mother. As he incessantly watched her paint as a child, he grew the desire to imitate what she and others could do with art. Even today, he thinks nothing is more satisfying than re-creating a scene or photograph accurately into a painting or drawing. As he aged, not only did Hobart continue to watch his mother work, but also took lessons from renowned artists Robert Mills and Larry Lebby and has practiced and produced many works in pencil, charcoal, watercolor, and most recently, oil. If Hobart is not behind an easel, you may find him working in government relations at the South Carolina State House, hunting, writing or performing original songs, and spending time with his much-loved family that includes five granddaughters. Hobart is thrilled to share his true passion of painting with the world.
